The first few games of the college basketball season tell us a lot about some of these teams, but they can’t really tell us everything we need to know. The opening weeks are often filled with easy home games for the top teams and power conference programs. It’s not until we get into holiday tournament season when the going regularly gets tough on the season.
This is only the fourth year of the Bahamas Championship, but it should be an exciting event at the Baha Mar Convention Center. This four-team event has attracted prominent programs, with Louisville winning the inaugural event three years ago, followed up by titles from UCF and Miami. The Hurricanes were actually a Top 15 program early last season, and this event will have that same ranked flair.
Three of the four teams at this year’s Bahamas Championship currently sit in the AP Top 25 and the fourth is a prominent program that’s won a national title in the last decade. While this is just a two-game event, all four of these teams have a major opportunity to kick start their seasons. This also becomes an important event if any of these teams are jockeying on the bubble when March Madness comes around.
We’ll get right into who exactly these four teams are and what we can expect from them on the court. We’re making a few predictions, sharing expectations for the four games ahead, and doing our best to figure out who will claim this year’s title. This tournament could go a number of ways depending on how these teams fare in the Bahamas; let’s get right into learning more about them.
