Predictions

We could spend time breaking down each individual matchup, but we’re just going to give a quick run through on how we think all four games will transpire in this event.

The first matchup between Baylor and St. John’s should actually be a really great contest. While the Bears have bounced back nicely since opening night, the Red Storm have proven their preseason ranking to be justified with their hot play. Still, we’re leaning slightly towards the Bears, though a hot shooting night from the Red Storm could easily doom Baylor much like against Gonzaga.

A contest between Tennessee and Virginia in recent years just screams defense, though these teams are a little different than in those past seasons. Regardless, you shouldn’t expect a ton of scoring, as both units will lean heavily on their defense. The team that can make and create outside opportunities likely takes the cake, and we’re leaning towards the experience on Tennessee’s roster.

The event progresses as many will expect, though don’t count out an exciting game between Virginia and St. John’s for 3rd place. The Red Storm certainly seem to be the better and most talented team but a strong effort from the Cavaliers’ defense could shift the tide. Still, we’re leaning on Rick Pitino and his squad to salvage something from their trip to the Bahamas with that 3rd place finish.

Baylor and Tennessee give us quite the marquee matchup that everyone expects, with the Bears’ talented offense facing an elite Tennessee defense. The Bears can take care of business if they play smart on offense and hit their shots. The Volunteers get the job done if their own offense continues to grow, as they certainly have a better defense than the Bears. It’s hard to say how things will go, but we’re leaning on Baylor putting a loud exclamation point to the end of November by winning the title.

The ball bouncing a different way could change this tournament entirely, and any of these teams really could win a pair of games this week. The Bahamas Championship has given us some excitement and this should be the best field and the best matchups yet. Who do you think will get the job done and come home with two impressive wins?
