10. Kansas Jayhawks - 7-2

Kansas started out as the preseason No. 1 team, thanks to an elite transfer haul and returning three starters from a previous 1-seed squad. They got some big wins early on, beating North Carolina, Michigan State, and Duke. The last two games were on the road, taking on Creighton and Missouri.

Unfortunately, both of them resulted in losses that weren’t ultimately close. Losing to Missouri, which may not even be above the bottom of the SEC, is a concern. But they still have one of the best players in the country in Hunter Dickinson, averaging 15.0 ppg and 9.6 rpg.

The problem has been the supporting cast, with some transfers overachieving and others underachieving. While David Coit and Zeke Mayo have been starting as of late, Rylan Griffen and AJ Storr, two of the top overall transfers in the offseason, have been coming off the bench with not-so-great results.

This is still a very good team that can get a high seed come March. But their ceiling is likely lower than many others as well until they can get some of the marquee players going. Having only one player averaging more than 11 ppg won’t cut it.
