One of the top mid-major guards available in the college basketball transfer portal is Kezza Giffa. He’s a 6’2 guard who has become one of the top players in the Big South at High Point. As a full-time starter this past season, Giffa averaged 14.6 ppg and 2.5 apg, shooting 44% from the field.

That includes seven games of at least 20 points and 16 in the conference tournament championship win over Winthrop. His season-high performance also occurred in the postseason, scoring 25 points to beat Gardner-Webb in the Big South Tournament.

Giffa has reportedly eyed three teams in the portal, potentially setting up visits. Here’s a closer look at how he fits each option.

Georgia Tech

GT lost its lead guard Naithan George to fellow ACC program Syracuse, leaving the team without a proven ball-handler. This is an option where Giffa could reasonably start on Day one and play alongside Jaden Mustaf. Compared to the other options, this one could be the safest place for him to go from a minute's standpoint.

Iowa

It’s been a busy offseason for the rebuilding program, as Coach Ben McCullom brought several players from Drake, including MVC Player of the Year, Bennett Stirtz. He and Kansas State transfer Brendan Hausen will be the starting backcourt, but Giffa could be the first guard off the bench. The offensive-friendly style should be a nice fit for him as well.

USC

The Trojans lost their point guard from this past season when Desmond Claude recently hit the portal. They did land former Maryland guard Rodney Rice, but he’s not a true PG himself. Giffa would be in the backcourt rotation and could potentially start alongside Rice, giving the team two capable ball-handlers to run the offense.
