It’s set to be a heavy recruiting weekend, with several NCAA Basketball class of 2025 prospects set to make a decision. The latest is John Clark, a consensus four-star and top-50 player from Houston, Texas. He’s a true 6’9 forward with plenty of size and all-around skill. Clark is a solid shooter and rebounder with few clear defensive weaknesses.

Ahead of a decision on Friday, Clark has four teams in the mix. Which of them makes sense from a roster standpoint? Here’s a closer look.

Houston Cougars

As the hometown team, Coach Kelvin Sampson must land Clark. They already have 5-star guard commit Isiah Harwell and could use Clark as another massive pickup in the 2025 class. With senior forwards J’Wan Roberts and Ja’Vier Francis leaving after this season, it’s an option that could also provide an early role to the prospect.

Kansas Jayhawks

Kansas is another Big 12 program with a senior frontcourt, including starter KJ Adams, who is leaving after this season. With no real frontcourt depth outside of redshirt sophomore Zach Clemence, the Jayhawks could use Clark on the 2025-26 roster, even if they would land a transfer forward next season. Clark could be on a path to the NBA if he is good enough to play at Kansas.

Texas Longhorns

The Longhorns don’t have a class of 2025 commits to this point, but Clark would not only be a nice first pick but also an added boost to deprive Houston of its local target. The team will be losing senior Arthur Kaluma, and unless freshmen forwards Nicolas Codie and Jamie Vinson have an early impact, Clark could find a nice role here a year from now.

Texas A&M Aggies

Texas A&M's roster in the 2025 class has plenty of needs since most of the current core are seniors, including starter Henry Coleman. Clark’s skillset fits Coach Buzz William’s system well, and it’s another local option. With all the guards leaving, Clark could be part of the frontcourt, the focal point of the team’s future.
