One of Texas's top NCAA Basketball prospects for this recruiting cycle is Sebastian Williams-Adams, a consensus four-star and top-50 player. He’s a 6’8 "power forward with great size and athleticism, capable of being a high-level defender who can also score inside.
Williams-Adams is down to four team options, with a decision potentially coming soon. Which of them makes the most sense from a roster standpoint? Here’s a closer look at his choices.
Auburn Tigers
Auburn’s entire frontcourt is filled with seniors, led by star big man Johni Broome. He, Chad Baker-Mazara, and Chris Moore will leave after this season, with Williams-Adams having wide open room to be part of the future rotation for the perennial SEC contender.
Oklahoma State Cowboys
The Cowboys have a pair of 2025 commits, including four-star center Mekhi Ragland. With seniors Marchelus Avery and Patrick Suemnick gone after this season, there’s a need for Williams-Adams to join and give them a physical boost in the frontcourt. It’s a rebuilding situation with new HC Steve Lutz but it’s a spot where the prospect can get minutes out the gate.
Purdue Boilermakers
Zach Edey and Mason Gillis are gone, but Purdue’s roster still has plenty of frontcourt depth, including freshmen centers like Raleigh Burgess and Daniel Jacobsen. Williams-Adams may not be the greatest fit next to the type of true center Coach Matt Painter usually has, but his historical development with forwards makes this an appealing option.
Vanderbilt Commodores
Like with OK State, Vandy has a new HC in Mark Byington. They recently landed four-star center prospect Jayden Leverett and could use another frontcourt piece in the 2025 class.
However, Williams-Adams may have to play more at the five than the four-spots, considering the team has transfers Kijani Wright and Devin McGlockton for potentially the next couple of years.
