One of California's top class of 2025 prospects is Dillan Shaw, a 6’7 small forward out of Northridge. According to 247sports, he’s a four-star recruit, currently ranked in the top 100 overall. Shaw is a legit athlete with two-way potential, making him a potential gem for whoever lands him.
If you’re a team out west that’s not USC or UCLA, you have to be able to find and develop local talent to be competitive in your respective conferences. And based on who is left in Shaw’s recruitment, one of them is about to land a quality player to headline their 2025 class.

Which one is the best potential fit ahead of Monday’s decision? Here’s a closer look at the options.
Cal Bears
The Bears are in the ACC now and can offer Shaw the ability to play for a power conference program, even it's more extra travel involved. The team brought in a bunch of transfers but none of them on the wings are seniors, including Andrej Stojakovic and BJ Omot. With four-star guard/wing Jovani Ruff already on board, there could be a logjam to deal with.
LMU Lions
Coach Stan Johnson has had a couple of successful seasons with the Lions and hoping to continue landing in-state prospects, such as transfers Jan Vide and Jevon Porter. With seniors Myron Amey Jr. and Caleb Stone-Carrawell gone after this season, Shaw could come in and be a focal point as soon as his freshman campaign.
Nevada Wolf Pack
On one hand, Nevada already has a 6'5 forward commit in the class in Peyton White. However, these two can realistically play with each other on the court, and considering all of the team's projected wings on the roster are seniors, there's plenty of room for them in the future. The one question here is whether or not the new-look Mountain West is appealing after losing all of the top programs this offseason.
Saint Mary’s Gaels
With Gonzaga leaving the WCC in a couple of seasons, Saint Mary's could take this opportunity to become the new face of the conference. Adding someone like Shaw would be helpful in that, as they'll be losing Luke Barrett on the wings this upcoming season.
With four-star freshmen prospects Mikey Lewis and Liam Campbell on the roster, the Gaels have a young core that can he a problem in the future. Adding someone like Shaw to be a potential go-to scoring option down the road would be ideal. Plus, of the four programs involved, they're the best bet to get back to the NCAA Tournament.
