NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing top 4 teams for top-50 guard Davion Hannah
The latest notable class of 2025 NCAA Basketball prospects close to a decision is Davion Hannah, a consensus top-50 player. Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Hannah is a 6’5 "shooting guard who’s a natural scorer with some solid ball-handling ability.
After having a list of eight options in the Summer, Hannah’s options have been cut in half, with four teams left in the mix. Do any of them stand out from the roster fit standpoint? Here’s a closer look at the guard’s teams.
Alabama Crimson Tide
The Tide has plenty of talented guards, including Mark Sears, Latrell Wrightsell Jr., and transfers Chris Youngblood and Houston Mallette. With all of them being seniors, there’s a big need for a new batch of guards to reload. They don’t have any guard commits in the 2025 class, and Amari Allen is a four-star wing commit. There are a few other guard targets, but Hannah would be a big name to add to the group.
Cincinnati Bearcats
The Bearcats recently landed four-star PG prospect Keyshaun Tillery as its lone commit in the 2025 class. Shooting guard is the biggest need, with guards Simas Lukosisu, CJ Fredrick, and transfer Connor Hickman all entering their senior campaigns. Coach Wes Miller plays plenty of perimeter players so there would be room for Hannah as soon as his freshman campaign.
Missouri Tigers
The Tigers have several shooting guards on their roster this season in their final years, including senior transfers Marques Warrick and Jacob Crews. Missouri has point guards and forwards in its 2024 and current 2025 recruiting classes but lacks natural shooting guards like Hannah. With him currently playing at Missouri’s Link Academy High School, Hannah could very well stay there with the new local option.
Ohio State Buckeyes
Ohio State is the one rare option that already has a SG commit in the 2025 class in Dorian Jones, a four-star prospect. Still, with Meechie Johnson leaving after this season and potentially Bruce Thornton, there’s a need for another impact off-guard in the class.
If you’re Hannah, the one concern is that if Coach Jake Diebler isn’t the man for the job, he’ll be in a rough spot compared to the safer options. However, guards have thrived in the program and, no matter who the coach is, can be good for Hannah, too.
