2. UConn Huskies
After winning the last two national championships, UConn’s recruiting was expected to take a massive leap. That’s happened with this group so far, landing four top-100 prospects. They’re led by Braylon Mullins, a top-20 shooting guard and five-star prospect, while Darius Adams is also in the five-star realm as a quality combo guard.
7’0 center Eric Reibe is a top-30 big man, who the Huskies were able to get after a big recruiting battle with Big East peer, Creighton. And 6’6 wing Jacob Furphy comes from Australia as one of the top international players from this class and a quality shooter. It’s the kind of class that should keep the program contending for more Final Fours.
1. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Yes, Duke has the No. 1 overall class per the rankings. But based on expectations, the Irish have the most impressive group, ranked No. 6 overall. They’re led by Jalen Haralson, a 6’5 guard/wing prospect who is the highest-ranked commit for the program out of high school.
There are three other four-star commits set to join Notre Dame as well. Brady Koehler and Ryder Frost are two small forward prospects, while Tommy Ahneman is a 6’10 center who gives them needed frontcourt depth for the future. The rebuilding effort by Coach Micah Shrewsberry has shown signs of progress, with this current top-10 class being the latest indication.
