20. Clemson (20-4)
As you can see, Clemson has been winning a lot of games again this season. They had a few close calls in the nonconference but have really put things together during ACC play. Honestly, Clemson doesn’t exactly have the most impressive list of wins among ranked teams but they’ve hit a great groove defensively during league play and just kept rolling on the road.
The Tigers survived the first leg of their road trip, winning 66-64 at Stanford back on Wednesday night. Nick Davidson had 16 points and 7 rebounds off the bench as Clemson survived a challenge from the Cardinal. Another great showing came Saturday at California, with the Tigers prevailing 77-55 against the Golden Eagles. They soared thanks to 13 point performances from Ace Buckner and RJ Godfrey in another great team performance.
Suddenly, Clemson is 10-1 in the ACC and are right there in the title race. The Tigers have won 13 of their last 14 games and haven’t lost a game in regulation since the beginning of December. They’re operating at a high level and are getting contributions up and down this lineup, but a real challenge awaits. They cannot overlook Virginia Tech on Wednesday, but then it’s a trip to Duke.
