In the grand scheme of things, December is the least exciting month in the college basketball season, but let’s not act like these teams are just sitting around all month. Even though the holiday tournaments are finished and conference play doesn’t begin for a few more weeks we’re still seeing some great matchups, with top teams tested and others showcasing what they can do this year.
This past month of November was filled with those exciting matchups and gave us plenty of opportunities to learn what to expect this season. We saw a few teams really take the initiative, showing up in a big win for top matchups or premier tournament events. On the other end, some teams took the plunge, showing that perhaps we overestimated them in the preseason or that they may not quite achieve or live up to previous success.
However, it’s important to remember that we’re still just over a month into this season and there are still many chances in the weeks and months ahead. One faulty or victorious November does not completely make or torpedo a season and these teams must remain vigilant. An exciting Saturday of action just showed a few of those teams and how they respond both to success and adversity and we’ll continue to see that in the weekends to come.
With these things in mind, we’re updating our Top 25 rankings with the latest seven days’ worth of results. Like we teased earlier, this month isn’t exactly loaded with games and matchups but we’re still learning about who exactly are the best teams this season. We can’t say with certainty who will cut down the nets in April or who will have their face in the sand in the weeks ahead, but we’ve given it our best to again rank and look at who we believe are currently the best teams in the land.
