7. Gonzaga (19-1)
It’s that weird time of year where Gonzaga really can’t help their reputation during WCC play. The only loss on the resume for the Bulldogs is that stunning blowout loss against Michigan but we’re far past that point. The work out of Gonzaga has been largely impressive across the whole season, even with a few games closer than expected early in league play.
That solid work continued, though not in a close call, as Gonzaga largely handled Washington State in an 86-65 road win on Thursday. Graham Ike continued his brilliant season with a 23-point, 11-rebound season while Adam Miller put up 13 points. On Saturday the Bulldogs grabbed another solid road win, getting a 71-50 win against a Seattle team that pushed them to the brink just a few weeks ago. Mario Saint-Supery was brilliant this time around with a 20-point showing.
Twelve straight wins has Gonzaga feeling pretty good about themselves right now. They’re off to a perfect start in a WCC that they’ve dominated for years and have Ike and others looking really great at this point in time. Obviously, the Bulldogs are coasting right now after the work they did earlier in the season and Mark Few knows he has to keep this team motivated for when the games matter most in March. It’s Pepperdine and San Francisco next on the docket.
