2. Michigan (16-1)

There were certainly some question marks last week when Michigan lost at home to Wisconsin over the weekend. The Wolverines had been playing at another level for nearly two months but had suddenly looked so beatable. Dusty May assembled immense talent in Ann Arbor and they weren’t kicking people’s teeth in by accident, but would this team resume that kind of action moving forward?

Their west coast trip started on a positive note with an 82-72 road win at Washington. Aday Mara put up 20 points while Morez Johnson Jr. had 16 points and 16 rebounds against the Huskies. The end result was very similar on Saturday, as the Wolverines won 81-71 at Oregon despite trailing at the half. Elliot Cadeau led the scoring with 17 points while Nimari Burnett added 15 points to topple the Ducks.

This Michigan team was an absolute unit in blowout wins over Auburn, Gonzaga, and many other programs. They may have come back down to earth, but there’s still great talent and potential here with this squad and a pair of double-digit road wins certainly helps get that momentum back on track. Looking ahead, the Wolverines are back home for three in a row, starting with Indiana in just a few days.
