Suddenly the calendar has hit February and it really does feel like March Madness has snuck up on us and is right around the corner. The recent weeks in this sport have seen thrilling conference action as teams start to assert themselves across the country, though there is still plenty of time for stories to be told and legacies to be rewritten.
College basketball is a long journey and it’s a similar story both for Blue Blood programs and oft forgotten low majors. With just around a month of regular season play left, teams are realizing their strongest lineups and making moves in their conference races. There’s a drastically different amount of eyes on mid-major leagues against the strongest leagues like the Big 12 or SEC but let’s not ignore that there’s great basketball around the country.
That’s certainly on display each and every night in this sport. Even on the great teams in this sport these lineups become littered with transfer portal additions that make their mark at new programs. It’s such a different era of this sport than even a few years ago. We’re still in a very transformative era of this sport, but the biggest current goal remains the same across the country: making March Madness.
A great number of teams already look like a certainty for the sporting world’s best postseason, and we’re considering those schools once again. What we mean is that we’re presenting this week’s update to the Top 25 rankings, fully expecting the teams in these rankings to each have a place in March Madness next month. As we prepare to run through those top teams and what they’ve recently accomplished, it’ll be interesting to consider just which teams will make national headlines to come.
