7. Nebraska (20-1)

Thanks to twenty straight wins to open the season, it was pretty clear that Fred Hoiberg and company were in the midst of a historic season. Let’s not forget the history being made in Lincoln for a program that’s never even won an NCAA Tournament game. There’s no guarantee that that changes this year but the Cornhuskers have spent an entire season showing they’re a real contender, especially in those wins over Illinois and Michigan State early in league play.

However, all good things must come to an end and the unbeaten season came to an end earlier this week. The Cornhuskers fell 75-72 at Michigan back on Tuesday night in a fierce battle without two of their too players, with Rienk Mast and Braden Frager both out of the lineup. Nebraska still put up an incredible fight and actually led at the half, getting 20 points apiece from Jamarques Lawrence and Pryce Sandfort.

Any loss is disappointing but the fact that it took this long for Nebraska to falter is extremely impressive. The Cornhuskers really have figured things out this season with this lineup and chemistry, with the offense in particular looking rather impressive. Let’s not ignore a defense that has really limited teams and kept this team in this fight against the Wolverines. There’s no letting up either, as Nebraska gets a prime opportunity to bounce back and make a statement against Illinois.
