2. Arizona (5-0)
A college basketball resume cannot be completely built or destroyed in only a few weeks but Arizona has done a great job disproving that theory. The Wildcats entered the season with a different look on their roster, with major changes and a few notable freshmen joining the show. What’s resulted has been a pair of standout wins over Florida and UCLA and that wasn’t the end of the early magic.
Wednesday night saw the Wildcats grab their most impressive win to date, going to Storrs and upending UConn on the road 71-67. Jaden Bradley had a great game with 21 points while freshman Koa Peat continued a brilliant start to his season with a 16-point, 12-rebound effort. Despite shooting just 20% from outside the arc, Arizona made just enough plays to get this sensational win.
Echoing our sentiments from last week, there’s no other team in the nation that can boast three wins quite like this on the early resume. Time will tell how the season develops but these November conquests are insane currency for the Wildcats’ resume by season’s end. The freshmen are playing well, Bradley is stepping into a bigger role, and Arizona can relax for a week, facing only Denver and Norfolk State in the next seven days.
