13. Alabama (8-3)
There’s virtually no challenge too big for Alabama and they’ve showcased that willingness throughout nonconference play. As tested as any team in the nation, the Crimson Tide picked up impressive wins over Illinois and St. John’s early in the season and have since suffered several blemishes, including last week’s 21-point loss to an extremely impressive Arizona squad.
Nate Oats and this lineup got back on track this week, taking care of business by winning 104-93 over South Florida back on Wednesday. What was clearly another banner day for the offense featured a 29-point, 7-assist effort from star Labaron Philon Jr. alongside 24 points from Aden Holloway off the bench. This wasn’t the best performance of the season for Alabama but they got back in the win column regardless.
Offensive fireworks have been no surprise, as the Crimson Tide have topped 100 points four times, including in big wins over Maryland and St. John’s. What this talented lineup has shown is that they’re willing to take on any team and give their best short and they’re more than ready for SEC play to begin a few weeks. For now Alabama’s concern lies with Kennesaw State on Sunday before a slight break for the Christmas holiday.
