1. Michigan (10-0)
Ten games is nearly one third of the regular season in this sport so it’s not too early for us to say that Michigan looks like one of the favorites to cut down the nets in April. The Wolverines weren’t playing their best ball early but once this team gelled in Las Vegas it’s been a nightmare for opponents. Blowout wins over teams like Auburn and Gonzaga loom large and Michigan certainly isn’t done causing pain on the court.
Tuesday was another such example as the Wolverines won 89-61 over Villanova, building a 30-point lead in the opening half. That intense blitz saw another impressive win and an 18-point performance out of Elliot Cadeau. Despite a halftime deficit on Saturday, Michigan took it to Maryland in College Park in the second half, getting a 101-83 win over the Terrapins on the road. Yaxel Lendeborg had a monster game with 29 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists as the Wolverines soared to a tenth win.
Since landing Las Vegas three weeks ago, Michigan has won their last six games by an average of 32 points per night. They aren’t playing low-majors or injury-riddled teams; they’re blasting national contenders and Big Ten hopefuls and this entire lineup is jam packed with talent and potential. Dusty May is looking a potential coach of the year on the national level and his team has earned the next week off.
Another week has flown past and despite there being less action we still saw most of these teams on the court. We’ve made a few changes based on these results and are still considering what’s to come in the weeks ahead. Do you agree with this Top 25 and the ups and downs we highlighted this time around?
