20. Wisconsin (3-0)
The college basketball season is a long road and Wisconsin is hoping that by the time it ends they’re national contenders and making major plays in the Big Ten yet again. They’ve replaced All-American John Tonje with other new talent and the Badgers haven’t really been challenged out of the opening gate this season. Those opportunities are certainly coming, but week two didn’t bring anything new yet to Madison.
Wisconsin opened with a third consecutive home game and treated their fans to another victory, this time winning 86-55 against Ball State. Nolan Winter led all scorers with 19 points and 10 rebounds while transfer Nick Boyd put up 12 points and continues to be a solid addition into this lineup. The Badgers made quick work of another mid-major foe and are just humming along right now.
There are a few games of note on the nonconference slate and Big Ten play will provide interesting matchups, but for now Wisconsin is just taking care of their own business. You won’t find too many complaints in these first three games, even if the defense wasn’t exactly perfect at times. A fourth straight home game will see them host SIU Edwardsville before that major opportunity comes in Salt Lake City on Friday with a marquee matchup against BYU.
