Projected Starters

Rollie Worster - Point Guard - Senior

The Utah State transfer started his career at Utah before deciding to play his final season in Lincoln for coach Hoiberg. If you ask anyone who has followed the Nebraska program, they will tell you that the Huskers have lacked a true point guard under coach Hoiberg. That is until now. Worster is a pass-first point guard who uses scoring as a second option and averages 4.1 assists to 2.0 turnovers over his career.

Conner Essegian - Shooting Guard - Junior

Essegian is a Wisconsin transfer known for his shooting ability. In his freshman year, he played about 30 minutes a night, shot 35% from deep, and averaged 12 points per game. Last season, the guard saw his minutes cut to 8 per game and rarely played. Essegian decided to transfer to Nebraska. The offense fits his skill set, and he will be one of the players coach Hoiberg hopes can replace Tominaga.

Brice Williams - Wing - Senior

Williams is one of two returning starters for Nebraska, and he is a good one. He can do everything. There were times last year when he played the five, and he played point guard a lot towards the end of last season. His best position is the wing where he can have the offense run through him, and he can hunt shots. He is a great three-point shooter, deadly from the line, and is efficient from the floor. He needs to be good for Nebraska to be successful.

Juwan Gary - Power Forward - Senior

Gary is a two-year starter, and over the two years he has been at Nebraska, they have been a much better team when he has been on the floor. It has also been two seasons in a row that Gary has missed time due to injury. Gary is a great rebounder, fantastic defender, and team leader, and he will still score double-digit points. His three-point shooting has improved, and he is a threat from outside. Gary might have a big year.

Berke Buyuktuncel - Sophomore - Center

Nebraska has a lot of depth in the frontcourt and the starter could be one of three players, but Buyuktuncel will likely get the first run at it. The UCLA transfer has an extremely high ceiling, and really needed the change of scenery. He didn’t have a great season shooting the ball in Westwood last year, but he can be a good shooter and finisher around the rim. His rebounding has improved, and his ability to score from all three levels is what gives him the nod over the other starters.
