Nebraska Basketball: 2024-25 season preview for the Cornhuskers

Nebraska one of their best years ever last year, can they follow it up with a new roster and some key pieces gone?

Key reserves to watch

Andrew Morgan - Senior - Power Forward/Center

I do not know how the rotation is going to shake out for Nebraska. It will be different from game one to game 31, but I do know that Morgan will be a huge part of the rotation. He is a transfer from North Dakota State who can step out and shoot from deep. He is a player who does a lot of the same things that Rienk Mast can do on offense but not as efficiently or as well.

Braxton Meah - Senior - Center

Coach Hoiberg has been in drastic need of a defensive-minded big man to stymie teams at the rim. He has tried to get numerous guys but none of them have worked out. Meah is a transfer from Washington who has proven how good he can be on the defensive end of the floor. He will provide some offense and all of it is at the rim. The 7’1” center has a lot of value in protecting the rim and rebounding.

Gavin Griffiths - Sophomore - Wing

The Rutgers transfer is another guy who is known for his shooting. Griffiths didn’t have a great year on offense last year and struggled to score along with the rest of his former teammates. All reports are that he is going to be a big part of the offense when he is on the floor and his shooting has improved and he is a confident shooter now.

Ahron Ulis - Senior - Point Guard

Ulis transferred last season from Iowa but was suspended as part of the Iowa sports betting ring on their campus. Ulis has served his suspension and is ready for the Huskers this season. Ulis never put-up impressive numbers at Iowa but he is experienced, can play defense, and knows how to run the offense. He will be a nice compliment to Worster to keep everyone fresh.

Sam Hoiberg - Junior - Guard

Hoiberg is not going to wow you on offense, but he can make a three, can make a layup, and is a good free throw shooter even if his numbers didn’t show that last year. Hoiberg is going to see the floor because he is an energy guy who plays extremely hard. The junior guard is also a great defender and has a knack for making a huge play when Nebraska needs it most.

Nick Janowski - Freshman - Guard

Janowski is a true freshman who came to Nebraska after a decorated career at Pewaukee High School in Wisconsin. As a senior, Janowski scored over 2,200 points, won three state titles, and averaged 31 points and nine rebounds per game. The guard will find his way into the rotation with his ability to score and shoot the ball from deep.

Braden Frager - Freshman - Guard

Frager had a decorated career at Lincoln Southwest high school, was a top 200 ranked recruit, and comes into Nebraska a three star. The guard was supposed to be a class of 2025 recruit but reclassified into 2024. Nebraska has a lot of depth and Frager likely won’t play much unless there are some injuries ahead of him.
