Usually, when a team has a lot of transfers, it is hard to determine how they will do. As I mentioned, in the era of NIL, every team has a ton of transfers and new players that they need to acclimate and build chemistry with quickly. Nebraska does have some new players who have already played in the Big Ten and are familiar with the league and the grind the league provides every night. The other transfers are guys who are from Power Five schools who are also used to playing in leagues that are a grind every night. The depth is good, and Nebraska has the makings of a competitive Big Ten team.
The schedule has some tough non-conference games. The St. Mary’s game is going to be a challenge for Nebraska but a game they should win and will likely be favored in. The Creighton game is a different story. Nebraska is going to struggle in that game, its in Omaha. That is a tough place to play, and Nebraska rarely wins there. That game will not determine the fate of Nebraska’s season.
The Huskers are likely going to win 20 or more games, and I have them pegged as a bubble team that will likely make the tournament. That is, if all the pieces they are relying on have good seasons and don’t get hurt. Nebraska should finish in the top to middle of the Big Ten and will be competitive all season. Maybe this year the Huskers will finally win in the tournament.
