The update everyone has been waiting for has finally arrived. Since the moment North Carolina saw former 5-star signee Elliot Cadeau enter the transfer portal, Hubert Davis has been on the hunt to bring in a quality replacement to run the UNC offense.
The search for a stud point guard has been a far and wide one. On Wednesday night, though, breaking news indeed has arrived, with Colorado State transfer Kyan Evans committing to the Tar Heels. Evans scooped everyone, announcing his decision on social media:

Point guard Kyan Evans has committed to Hubert Davis and North Carolina
Evans becomes the third known commit for Davis via the portal, joining big man Henri Veesaar and West Virginia guard Jonathan Powell. The Tar Heels of course aren't done looking to add experienced playmakers, as Tre Holloman and Kanon Catchings are expected to visit later this week too.
As for Evans, he's coming off a strong sophomore season, helping Colorado State win the Mountain West tournament title. On the season, the 6-2, 175-pounder from Kansas City averaged 10.6 points, 3.1 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game.
Evans really made a name for himself in the NCAA Tournament, putting on a show in a first-round upset win over Memphis. In that game, Evans scored 23 points, going 6-of-9 on his 3-point attempts. He was 7-for-11 overall from the floor.
In the heartbreaking loss to Maryland in the second round, Evans went 2-for-4 from downtown. On the season, he shot an impressive 44.6 percent from beyond the arc. That kind of consistency will of course be a huge bonus for the Tar Heels next season.
Earlier this offseason, the losses of Cadeau and Jalen Washington to Michigan and Vanderbilt, respectively, hurt. However, Davis now has three portal commits on board and Seth Trimble returning for his senior campaign is also yet another big win for the staff.
