Paige Bueckers needs a championship in March to cement her place as one of the greats

Paige Bueckers is clearly one of the greatest to ever play college basketball, but being among the UConn greats is a tough task to accomplish, and Bueckers can do it with this one thing on her resume.

UConn guard Paige Bueckers has had a storied career with the Huskies, battling injury, as well as playing the sport with some of the most prolific women's college basketball players like Caitlin Clark, JuJu Watkins, and many others. However, Bueckers is creating a story of her own at UConn, one many believe could be one of the best, but she needs one thing before she can be cemented among the UConn greats.

There have been many players going through UConn's women's basketball program that have gone on to make women's basketball legendary. Players such as Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Breanna Stewart, Rebecca Lobo, Maya Moore, and so many more. UConn women's basketball has been the standard for so long, and Bueckers is yet another product of a program that breeds amazing basketball players.

Bueckers, however, is doing things no other players are doing. In her five years at UConn, Bueckers has scored over 2,000 points, has over 500 rebounds, over 500 assists, shoots more than 50% from the floor, has a 40+ three-point shooting percentage, and more than an 80+ free throw percentage. The only player who accomplishes this is Bueckers and no one else, that is right, no one else.

Even with those numbers, though, Bueckers needs just one more thing to truly call her a UConn great with Bird, Taurasi, Stewart, and many more. Bueckers needs a National Championship this March to cement her legacy as a UConn Husky.

This is the year for UConn to make their mighty return to the top and take it back from the South Carolina Gamecocks, who have kept their seat warm for quite a few years now. With a healthy squad, more importantly, a healthy Paige Bueckers, UConn has the ability to take this all the way to the championship and raise a banner yet again.

Bueckers is clearly not doing this by herself, though. With the help of her squad around her, Bueckers can show the rest of the women's college basketball world that she is one of the greatest players in college basketball history, men's or women's basketball.

Bueckers is already seen as a UConn great by her coach and the program around her, as on her Senior Night, they unveiled her as the newest member of the Huskies of Honor on Sunday. Now she just needs to go add another banner to the rafters, one that reads "UConn Women's Basketball 2025 National Champions."
