Welcome Football Fans! The Super Bowl is over, and that means that everyone can focus on basketball for a few months. There were only eight total games yesterday, but a lot happened especially for teams on the bubble. Nebraska picked up a crucial win over Ohio State in Lincoln. Brice Williams was excellent again, but the Huskers may have lost their big man for a bit with a sprained ankle. That is not good, considering they have Maryland coming to town on Thursday. Villanova beat Xavier to knock the Musketeers off the bubble for the time being.
The other Big Ten game saw Maryland beat Rutgers in College Park. Rutgers has struggled this year because their stars, who also happen to be players who are going to go in the top of the draft, are having a hard time staying on the court. Dylan Harper played and was excellent, but star Ace Bailey looked like he was sick on the sidelines all night long. If those two play together, in the same game the Scarlet Knights are very hard to beat. Memphis beat Temple to continue their run to the American Conference title.
The Monday after the Super Bowl has one ranked team playing. It also has a bubble team on the road trying to pick up a huge win that would go a long way toward getting them into the tournament. There is one game that is going to be very interesting tonight, especially for a bubble team. North Carolina travels to Littlejohn to take on the Clemson Tigers. Clemson is coming off a win on Saturday night against Duke, a win that likely secured the Tigers' fate as an NCAA tournament team this year. North Carolina, on the other hand, has struggled mightily this year and finds themselves firmly in the bubble. They need as many wins as they can get, and a win on the road at Clemson would be a big jumping-off point. Enjoy the hoops!
