Following more than four months of college basketball action, Selection Sunday has come and gone and we are left with the NCAA Tournament bracket. Each team in the field has worked hard to get here, putting in years of work to train themselves for this moment. What exactly we can expect has yet to be seen, though we’ll be taking a closer look at the South region for now.

Houston sits at the 1-seed and certainly earned that honor after an impressive first season in the Big 12. We’re not saying Houston is an overwhelming favorite in this bracket, but the teams alongside them all have had question marks at times this season. However, Marquette, Kentucky, and Duke are each powerful programs when they’re at their best this year.

Wisconsin nearly won the Big Ten Tournament and got themselves the 5-seed with the thankless task of a 30-win James Madison squad in round one. The South is full of intriguing power conference teams that could make a run including Texas Tech, Florida, and a Nebraska program looking for their first every win in the Big Dance. We also get NC State at the 11-seed after that legendary run through the ACC Tournament last week.

There’s no question that these teams have worked hard to get to this point while some are certainly better than others. The teams themselves are not of interest right now; we’ll be looking more closely at the individual players in this region. We’re identifying the Top 20 basketball players in the South region and ranking them from top to bottom. Keep in mind that not every team is represented but that there’s great players on every team in the entire Tournament.
