The players and coaches of the college basketball universe trained, practiced, and played hard for years and finally have their moment. Sixty-eight teams have qualified for this year’s NCAA Tournament and all of their dreams are right there in front of them. We’ll be figuring out who exactly will cut down those nets in Phoenix, with today’s focus particularly on the West region.

There’s plenty to like about this regional and its potential, where North Carolina sits at the top of the bracket as the 1-seed. The other Top 4 seeds are all very talented programs that looked like juggernauts at times this season, and few people really want a piece of Arizona, Baylor, or Alabama in the postseason.

This quadrant is also packed with mid-major talent, starting with Saint Mary’s at the 5-seed matched up with an underrated Grand Canyon squad. MWC Tournament champion New Mexico snuck into the Tournament and join Nevada in this region. Other potent mid-majors like Charleston and Colgate are back again this season while anything could happen with 9-seed Michigan State in the month of March.

What exactly is going to happen in this regional? Today’s focus isn’t on picking games or expecting results but on looking through the immense talent in this regional. We’ve sorted through these seventeen teams and have picked the Top 20 players from the West region. Not every team is represented and we’ve certainly had to exclude some great athletes, but we’ve done our best to showcase some awesome talent looking to make history from this corner of the bracket.
