3 takeaways from Seton Hall's Big East victory over Butler
By John Makuch
The Seton Hall Pirates picked up some major roadkill in Indianapolis after taking down the hot Butler Bulldogs in Indianapolis 78-72. This crew from South Orange is now 5-1 in Big East play after a questionable 5-4 start to the season. Seton Hall has seemed to come out of absolutely nowhere, and now they are threatening to make the AP Top 25 for the first time since January 10, 2022.
Shaheen Holloway and these Pirates have made a huge resurgence in the post-Kevin Willard era, and this Butler win leaves no questions on the table as to whether this team is legit or not. The Hall shot a solid 50.4 percent from the field and hit their free throws, making 10 of 11 shots from the charity stripe. The rebound battle was also theirs with a 34-23 advantage in that department, Seton Hall just outmuscled Butler to this victory, and that is what you need to do in the Big East.
Defensively, this team showed up for some major stops down the stretch, and they held the Bulldogs to 40.7 percent shooting from the field. This is the same Butler team that just took down Marquette on the road, so chaos just continues in the Big East Conference. This was just an all-around team win for these Pirates, four starters finished in double figures while the bench unit made their own solid contributions. The Seton Hall University Pirates are now a real threat in this conference, but how did they show that against Butler?
