Mark Sears (Alabama)

After establishing himself as a star at Ohio as an underclassman, Sears chose to transfer and has fit remarkably well in Tuscaloosa. He played a significant role during Alabama’s success last season, but Sears has really come into his own as a senior this season.

All of his numbers have increased in a season where he’s considered the guy on offense, averaging 21.1 points, 4.1 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game. Sears has great shooting numbers: he’s one of the nation’s best free throw shooters and has hit 44% of his long-range shots. He’s far from the only cog in a deadly Crimson Tide offense but he’s certainly the headliner.

A 35-point effort in a loss to Purdue was one of the first moments where we saw Sears at his best. He’s remained a key offensive weapon in SEC play, with a plethora of 20+ point outings, including a recent 33-point game at Florida. He’s actually scored at least 20 in all but one of the Crimson Tide’s last fourteen games.

That consistency is the key for the 3-seed in the SEC Tournament as Alabama knows they have a dependable star in Sears. Not only does he have the potential to shoot the Crimson Tide to wins in this tournament but you know what to expect from him as well. Alabama is certainly a team to watch and Sears landing on the All-Tournament team wouldn’t surprise anyone.
