9 players who can help their team advance in the Big Ten Tournament
By Joey Loose
Keisei Tominaga (Nebraska)
Certainly establishing himself as one of the gems of the Big Ten this season, Tominaga has been a major weapon throughout his career for the Cornhuskers. He was a former JUCO star who’s having quite the final season of college ball at Nebraska, helping lead this program to one of their best seasons in recent memory.
Tominaga is averaging 14.6 points per game while making 37% of his 3-pointers and a great 88% clip from the free throw line. It’s not just about the raw stats but also his talent and leadership in getting the Cornhuskers to their highest finish ever in the Big Ten.
He’s a player who shows up on the biggest stages, playing a role in the Cornhuskers’ huge upset of Purdue with 18 points, including five 3-pointers. He dropped 28 on Illinois in a tough loss a few weeks later and just ended the season with a 30-point performance against Michigan in his final regular season game.
Tominaga is not the type of player that you can expect will score 20 every night, but he’s got 3-seed Nebraska excited about their potential in the coming weeks. If he and these Cornhuskers have a hot-shooting night, they can beat any team in the Big Ten, and they’ve already proven that.
