Virginia Cavaliers - Grade: C-

Not too long ago, Virginia and Tony Bennett was the cream of the ACC crop, having won a national title and landing top-100 prospects. But after getting blown out in the NCAA Tournament “First 4” game, they didn’t have as strong of an offseason for a team that knew it had to replace key players, including star guard, Reece Beekman.

The loss of elite defensive forward Ryan Dunn also hurts for a team that relies on winning low-scoring games with its vaunted defense. The hope is that they struck gold with TJ Power, a transfer from Duke who is a former 5-star prospect and could be a breakout candidate. How good he is could very well determine the team’s fate in 2025.

Replacing Beekman in the backcourt is Jalen Warley, a transfer starter from Florida State. He’s a 6’6 guard with size but wasn’t much of a scorer. He and former K-State guard will run the offense while returning double-digit scorer Isaac McKneely will become the go-to scorer in the backcourt.

Because it’s Tony Bennett, you can expect the Cavaliers to find a way to remain in the postseason mix. But this roster has more questions than answers at this point and had one of the quietest transfer hauls in the ACC. Time will tell how it works out.
