Miami Hurricanes - Grade: B

The results flew under the radar but the Hurricanes finished near the bottom of ACC Basketball last season. So to some degree, having a roster shakeup makes sense. Of the top seven players in the rotation, five left, including freshman guard Kyshawn George to the NBA, while starters Bensley Joseph, Norchad Omier, and Wooga Poplar, entered the portal.

The two guys who did return are Nijel Pack and Matthew Cleveland, both of whom averaged 13+ ppg. The team also has a top-15 incoming recruiting class, led by 5-star guard prospect, Jalil Bethea. The fact that he remained committed to the program despite the team struggles itself was a big win for the program.

Miami also added several transfers to replace the lost production. Lynn Kidd was a starter at Virginia Tech and at 6’10 and 230 pounds, gives them more size than Omier provided. Brandon Johnson was a starting forward at ECU, while Jalen Blackmon was one of the top scorers in the country last season, averaging over 21 ppg at Stetson in the backcourt.

If nothing else, Miami has reloaded its roster for next season and a case can be made that this group fits better. As long as Bethea stuck around, this could be viewed as a successful offseason for the program.
