North Carolina Tar Heels - Grade: B-

Of the core four starters for the Heels, two of them ran out of eligibility, including star big man and all-time double-double machine, Armando Bacot. Starting forward Harrison Ingram elected to enter the NBA Draft, but the most important decision was RJ Davis coming back for a 5th year.

Davis, who was the ACC Basketball Player of the Year last season, led tbe team with 21.1 ppg. He and sophomore guard Elliot Cadeau will be one of the top backcourts in the league, joined by incoming 5-star prospects, Ian Jackson and Drake Powell.

UNC did struggle struggle in the transfer portal a bit, missing out on a number of prospects. They did land Belmont transfer Cade Tyson to replace the outgoing Cormac Ryan, while Ven-Allen Lubin was starter at Vanderbilt and will be the new starter in the frontcourt.

Still, the Tar Heels missed out on targets such as Cliff Omoruyi, Ugonna Onyenso, and others and depending on who they could’ve landed, may have had a shot at being the preseason No. 1 team for next season. But with Davis back, they still will be in the top-10 range. Ultimately, it feels like they left some on the table in the transfer portal.
