2. Duke Blue Devils - 13-3 (4-1)
The Blue Devils have taken care of the lower-tier teams in the ACC, beating Pittsburgh, Syracuse, and Notre Dame. But their latest opponent was Georgia Tech, a team that already beat them over a month ago. Duke was on upset alert at home, trailing double-digits early in the second half. But they made the comeback to win 84-79, thanks to a career-high 30 points and 13 rebounds from Kyle Filipowski.
Duke is now on an 8-game win streak but hasn’t faced a ton of competition in the conference. They still have an easy couple of weeks coming up, taking on Pittsburgh again at home, followed by a matchup with Louisville.
1. North Carolina Tar Heels - 13-3 (5-0)
One theme in NCAA Basketball in the past couple of weeks has been the difficulty of winning on the road. The Tar Heels have been the exception, winning three straight games away from North Carolina, beating the likes of Clemson, Pittsburgh, and NC State, all by double-digits.
The recent 36-point win over Syracuse only enhances how good UNC is, as both Armando Bacot and RJ Davis (20.4 ppg) are playing at an All-American level. They’re the last unbeaten team in the ACC and are playing the best right now. Boston College and Louisville are the next contenders to take on the Heels this week.
