12. Micah Shrewsberry (Notre Dame)

Shrewsberry is an Indianapolis native who has spent a lot of time coaching basketball in his home state. He was part of Butler’s consecutive trips to the national title game on their staff and did great work as an aide at Purdue. He’s a former assistant to Brad Stevens with the Boston Celtics and had breakthrough success as head coach at Penn State, taking the Nittany Lions to their first NCAA Tournament win in thirteen years.

After two quality years with the Nittany Lions, Shrewsberry accepted a chance to return to his home state, taking the Notre Dame job last offseason. He inherited a program without much in the cupboard and it’s hard to judge him too hard off last season’s struggles. 13-win campaigns aren’t likely to repeat themselves if Shrewsberry gets this program trending in the right direction again, though it’s hard to put him much higher than this based on past results.

11. Andy Enfield (SMU)

The catalyst for some crazy offseason coaching moves, Enfield has had quite the head coaching career already and now heads into the ACC as the new head coach at SMU. A former NBA shooting coach, Enfield gained experience in the ACC on Leonard Hamilton’s Florida State staff over a decade ago before starting his head coaching career back in 2011 at Florida Gulf Coast.

Many remember what he accomplished with Dunk City, making that crazy run to the Sweet Sixteen, and he parlayed that success into the USC job. There were many ups and downs across Enfield’s eleven seasons leading the Trojans. USC advanced to the Elite Eight back in 2021 and were in several NCAA Tournaments but really fell short of expectations this past season, perhaps prompting his move to SMU. The Mustangs have struggled in recent years and we shouldn’t expect instant contention in the ACC.
