14. Notre Dame Fighting Irish - 7-15 (2-9)
The Irish currently has the same record as Louisville but they’ve had less drama in comparison. But it’s been a rough stretch for a rebuilding team that had a solid start when they were 2-3 in ACC Basketball play. They’ve now lost six straight games, having not scored more than 61 points in any of them.
The Irish have been competitive against the lower-tier of the ACC, including tight finishes against the likes of Georgia Tech and Boston College. Most recently, they were tied at one point early in the second half on the road at Pittsburgh, before losing, 70-60. Markus Burton had 17 points, while forward Tae Davis went for 17.
Braden Shrewsberry, son of head coach Micah Shrewsberry, had eight points off the bench against the Panthers. He’s been a bright spot for the team as of late, having six games of double-digit scoring in the last eight outings, compared to just four in the first 14 games.
He and Burton are clear building blocks for the future but the question is who else will emerge for the Irish going forward? They have a couple of tough tests coming up, with Duke and Virginia Tech up next. If they’re not careful, Louisville will pass them up in the ACC standings.
