8. Pittsburgh Panthers - 14-8 (5-6)

The last 10 games for the Panthers can be split into two groups. The 1-4 stretch and the recent 4-1 stretch that has gotten them back in the middle of the pack. A key aspect is having a healthy Ishmael Leggett, who struggled in those losses but has been in double figures in the last five games.

That includes the road win over Duke, along with a recent home win over Wake Forest. Leggett had 22 points off the bench in the 77-72 victory, which was their first win at home over a power conference team this season. They managed to follow that up with a 70-60 win over Notre Dame last weekend, led by 17 points from Blake Hinson.

Once against, the Panthers are going to be short-handed the rest of the way, with eight true scholarship players. Reserve forward Jorge Diaz-Graham is out for the year with an injury, while Mike Hueitt recently left the team. That puts even more pressure on the freshmen guard duo of Bub Carrington and Jaland Lowe, who have had their share of ups and downs this season.

Pittsburgh is currently outside of the bubble but has a chance to get back in the mix. They have two road opportunities coming up, at NC State and Virginia. Get at least one win and they’ll have a shot in the coming weeks.
