3. Miami Hurricanes

2023-24 season record: 15-17 (6-14 ACC)

The most disappointing team in ACC Basketball last season was Miami, who managed to have four players with at least 13 ppg but played awful defense in league play. Changes have been made, with Norchad Omier (17.0 ppg and 10.0 rpg), Bensley Joseph, and Wooga Poplar entering the transfer portal. Plus, freshman guard Kyshawn George is in the NBA Draft now.

The good news for the Hurricanes is that they seemed to be prepared for the losses, having already landed a couple of pieces from the portal. Lynn Kidd averaged 13.2 ppg and 6.5 rpg in a breakout year at Virginia Tech and will be the new starting center for Miami. Brandon Johnson averaged over 13 ppg at East Carolina and added more frontcourt depth.

Two other key starters are back in Nihel Pack (13.3 ppg and 3.6 apg), as well as forward Matthew Cleveland (13.7 ppg and 6.1 rpg). And while just about the entire bench has transferred out, the incoming top-15 recruiting class should provide some depth, led by 5-star guard prospect, Jalil Bethea.

The top-end talent of this group is some of the best but they have six scholarships to fill out. Assuming they can get a couple of solid role players to round out the bench, Miami should be in the top 25 mix for next season.
