16. Boston College Eagles

2023-24 season record: 20-16 (8-12 ACC)

It was another year where the Eagles were good enough to avoid the very bottom of the ACC but not good enough to compete for a postseason bid. And now Coach Earl Grant will have to replace all of the key pieces from a 20-win team.

Star forward Quentin Post (17.0 ppg and 8.1 rpg) is gone, while the other three double-digit scorers (Claudell Harris, Jaeden Zackery, Devin McGlockton), all entered the transfer portal. And with former top-100 prospect Prince Aligbe gone, that quiet departure depletes the frontcourt for BC.

The good news is that the team has landed a trio of transfers. The big name is Dion Brown, a 6’3 guard from UMBC who averaged a career-high 19.0 ppg and 7.6 rpg as a sophomore. Joshua Beadle is a transfer guard from Clemson who adds depth. And Chad Venning is a 6’10 and 280-pound center from St. Bonaventure, who averaged 13.4 ppg and 4.6 rpg, as well as 1.6 bpg. He played around 25 mpg and should be the starting center next season.

There are still several spots that need to be filled, including in the frontcourt. The big question is whether they have anyone who can give them big minutes at the ACC level since there are so many underclassmen that aren’t proven yet.
