Alabama Basketball: USF forward Chris Youngblood will play in Tuscaloosa
The rising fifth-year senior Chris Youngblood will join the Crimson Tide, a member of this past season's Final Four who gave national champion UConn trouble in their matchup but unfortunately fell by a score of 86-72. Youngblood (such a cool last name) is making stop number three as he started his college basketball career at Kennesaw State.
Per Joe Tipton, the forward made his decision on April 13th.
This past season as a Bull, he averaged 15 points, three rebounds, and two assists. His shooting ability stands out with 46 percent overall and 42 percent from the three-point line. Although Youngblood has usually been a steady scorer, he already racked up double figures as a freshman with 12 points per game.
Ever since, his point total has slowly increased, going from 12, 14, 14 again, and now 15. Alongside his clip from downtown, Youngblood has been averaging at least 40 percent since his sophomore year, which is extremely effective.
The 2023–2024 splits between home and road games were similar, as he wrote 16 points, two rebounds, and two assists playing at the Yuengling Center. In comparison to his 14 points, three rebounds, and two assists on the road, Youngblood can get it done no matter where he is without any trouble.
His 29-point game that came on this past March 5th against Tulane was a season-high, along with three rebounds and five assists.
If you could not tell already by the picture above, Youngblood possesses a stocky build at the guard position, which he uses to bulldoze his defender in traffic to finish at the cup. In terms of his knack for shooting the ball, he holds a quick trigger to let it fly in no time. Furthermore, a shot creator in the mid-range area.
One underrated trait of his game has to be his passing. Youngblood is always keeping his head on a swivel to find an open teammate.
Coach Oats is looking for continuity in his success at Alabama, recently shutting down all rumors about becoming Kentucky's new head coach. His heart is settled as the leader of Alabama.
