The level of success at Arkansas has greatly changed in the last half decade with Musselman on board. The next head coach will need to continue this winning culture, not settling for some of the mediocre results that predecessors like Mike Anderson brought to town. Certainly one of the hotter names in recent years, Tang could be an intriguing addition to this SEC squad.

Though originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Tang grew up in Texas and has spent a majority of his career in that state, including success at the high school level. He was hired by Scott Drew and Baylor back in 2003 and aided the Bears in college basketball’s finest rebuild, winning a national title as an assistant coach just three seasons ago. Tang got his first collegiate head coaching job at Kansas State in 2022 and led the Wildcats to the Elite Eight in his very first season at the helm.

There are rumors of unrest between Tang and the Kansas State administration but this is more than just that. While it’s possible Tang prefers the Big 12 to the SEC, Arkansas is certainly a basketball program in better position right now. Tang brought instant success to Kansas State and the hope is that he can have that same type of breakthrough with the Razorbacks. He’d be a really solid hire and is certainly one of the early favorites.
