Arkansas Basketball: 7 candidates to replace Eric Musselman as Head Coach

One last candidates needs to be addressed and it’s another one of the heavy favorites. Arkansas can land someone who’s been a winner in the SEC and at several different D1 schools. Wade has done all of this and much more and is still just 41 years old. Even with his dismissal due to recruiting violations, the future remains bright for him.

A former graduate assistant at Clemson, Wade was on VCU’s staff when the Rams made a crazy run to the Final Four back in 2011. He was later successful as the head coach at both Chattanooga and VCU before varying levels of success at LSU. Prior to his dismissal, he won a ton of games, an SEC title, and built a Sweet Sixteen team with the Tigers. Despite receiving a show cause, Wade bounced back in a major way at McNeese this past season, taking the Cowboys to the Big Dance and a 30-win campaign.

Another potential home-run hire for the Razorbacks, the big issue here is the continued fallout from Wade’s dismissal. He served his suspension this past year at McNeese, though he still has certain recruiting restrictions for another several months. Regardless, Arkansas likely wouldn’t let that stop them from nabbing a successful young head coach who’s already won big in the SEC and at every other coaching stop.

We’ve run through seven potential candidates for the sudden opening at Arkansas, with a few of those names certainly floating the top.
