Fordham Rams - Grade: D

The good news for the Rams is that they have two of their top guards back in Will Richardson and Japhey Medor, who each averaged 9.8 ppg. But just about everyone else is gone, including forward Elijah Gray, who transferred out. Josh Rivera and Abdou Tsimbila are also back but is that good enough for them to compete in the A-10?

Fordham brings in four freshmen, as well as two transfers. Forward Matt Zona didn’t play much during his time at Notre Dame, while transfer guard Jackie Johnson averaged around 6.0 ppg in two years at UNLV off the bench, after starting his career at Duquesne. After a couple of strong seasons where they became relevant in the Atlantic 10, this offseason felt like a big step back for the program.

George Mason Patriots - Grade: (ignoring the Bahamas disaster) B

Three key losses for GMU were to the portal, with leading scorer Keyshawn Hall and standout freshman Baraka Okojie gone. Starting guard Ronald Polite going to UNCG was a surprise as well. But one of the biggest good moves in the league was Darius Maddox (14.0 ppg) electing to come back for an extra year, along with rotation pieces, Woody Newton and Jared Billups.

The Patriots managed to land five transfers, including a couple of big names. KD Johnson averaged around 10 ppg in three years at Auburn and could have a big 5th year. Jeremiah Quigley and Brayden O’Connor are transfer guards, while Zach Anderson and Giovanni Emejuru are double-digit scoring forwards who very well could start. They did a good job replacing the losses to remain in the mix in the top half.
