Richmond Spiders - Grade: B+

After earning a co-regular season title, Richmond was set to lose most of its core pieces, including stars Jordan King and Neal Quinn. The one veteran who could’ve stayed was Dji Bailey, who elected to transfer to LSU instead. DeLonnie Hunt and Jason Roche return, along with potential breakout guard, Mikkel Tyne.

The Spiders had an underrated transfer portal haul, led by Dartmouth transfer forward, Dusan Neskovic (16.0 ppg). B. Artis-White (10.4 ppg at WMU) will help fill in for King, while George Washington III and Apostolos Roumoglou are power conference transfers looking for more playing time. Richmond is hopeful that one of them will break out and if that happens, they may not take too much of a drop in the A-10 standings.

Saint Joe’s Hawks - Grade: A

At the start of the offseason, St. Joe’s was the team to watch since they had several players who were prime portal targets. In the end, two guys left in freshmen center Christ Essandoko, as well as starting point guard, Lynn Greer. However, they were able to bring back star guard and leading scorer, Erik Reynolds, as well as star freshman, Xzayvier Brown.

The team managed to replace the outgoing transfers with two quality veterans in former Rutgers guard Derek Simpson, as well as Justice Ajogbor, one of the top shot-blockers in the country last season at Harvard. It’s hard to argue that the offseason could’ve gone any better for a team who finished in the middle of the pack in the A-10 and now, can contend next season.
