In what's likely the last offseason roster addition, Auburn Basketball picks up Georgia Tech's leading scorer, Miles Kelly.

Around a week ago, I did an article on the projected way-too-early top-25 teams for next season and what their current roster needs were to fill the holes. One of those teams in the list was Auburn Basketball, who still had a couple of available scholarships.

On paper, the frontcourt is set, led by returning starting big man and leading scorer, Johni Broome. The backcourt was where most of the offseason departures occured. Former 5-star prospect Aden Holloway transferred out, along with KD Johnson and Tre Donaldson. They did add Furman transfer JP Pegues and have 5-star point guard prospect joining in Tahaad Pettiford.

Still, there wasn't a lot of depth on the backcourt so the Tigers preferably needed one more contributor with power conference history. And among the few remaining in the transfer portal, they were able to get a former starter in the ACC.

Miles Kelly is a 6'4 guard who started the last two years at Geogia Tech. This past season, led led the team with 13.9 ppg and 5.5 rpg, shooting 37% from the field and 32% from three-point range. Kelly had eight games of at least 20 points, including a career-high 36 points at Louisville.

Although Kelly isn't as efficient as Auburn would like, his history of going off in games could be the difference in close games for them in the SEC. And with a frontcourt as good as they have, the attention won't be on the junior playmaker as much, giving him more open room to operate.

With the addition of Kelly, Auburn could very well stay Pettiford, Kelly, and Pegues in the backcourt, or have Denver Jones in for one of them and have the fourth as a 6th Man. So if nothing else, the depth won't be an issue for the team next season. Time will tell if Kelly can be the big factor in them being a Final Four and SEC title contender.
