4. JT Toppin (Texas Tech)

2023-24 Season at New Mexico: 12.4 PPG | 9.1 RPG | 1.9 BPG | 1.1 SPG | 62.3 FG % | 26.6 MPG

Texas Tech picked up a commitment from New Mexico transfer, JT Toppin. Toppin had an excellent freshman campaign for a Lobos team that made the NCAA Tournament. Toppin was 4th on the team in scoring, 1st in rebounds, and 1st in blocked shots.

The 6’9, soon-to-be Sophomore will look to take his game to another level as he joins the Red Raiders of the Big 12. Toppin was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Year and is one of several impressive incoming transfers for Grant McCasland.

3. Coleman Hawkins (Kansas State)

2023-24 Season at Illinois: 12.1 PPG | 6.1 RPG | 2.7 APG | 1.5 SPG | 1.1 BPG | 45.1 FG % | 31.6 MPG

Coleman Hawkins is yet another player in these rankings who has shown year-by-year development within the same program. As a freshman in the 2020-21 season, Hawkins saw just 6 minutes of action per game and made 0 starts.

Over the course of the last two seasons with the Fighting Illini, Hawkins has started in all 68 of his appearances and played about 32 minutes per game. One of the most highly coveted players in the transfer portal recently committed to Jerome Tang’s Kansas State Wildcats.
