5. BYU needs to make their 3-point shots

If BYU wants to improve their seeding on selection Sunday with a Big 12 tournament championship, they’re going to need to make their shots from downtown. It is no secret that the BYU Cougars take a lot of threes. BYU ranks second nationally in 3-point field goal attempts per game with over 32.

At their best, BYU has picked up wins against Iowa State, Kansas, Baylor, and San Diego State. At their worst, BYU suffered a double-digit loss to Oklahoma State. Part of the reason for that loss was that as a team the Cougars shot just 8-35 (22.9%) from 3-point range.

BYU will play in the first game of the day on Wednesday. They will see the winner of the first-round matchup between UCF and Oklahoma State.

4. Texas Tech needs to continue to build momentum

The Red Raiders (22-9, 11-7) won 3 straight to end the regular season allowing them to jump all the way up to the 4 seed in the conference tournament this week. Oftentimes, the teams who go on a run in the NCAA Tournament come into the tournament on fire. Texas Tech not only has an opportunity for a tune-up by playing against quality Big 12 opponents, but they also have an opportunity to stay hot. The Red Raiders can win 3 more games, and be crowned Big 12 conference tournament champions as they head into the big dance.
