10. Texas Tech Red Raiders

2023-24 season record: 23-11 (11-7 Big 12)

It’s hard to say that the first season for HC Grant McCasland wasn’t anything but a success, leading the program back to the NCAA Tournament. He’ll have some roster changes to work with, as the two leading guards (Pop Isaacs and Joe Toussaint) have moved on, along with the veteran frontcourt duo of Warren Washington and Devan Cambridge.

Two key starters are back, including the versatile forward, Darrion Williams. He averaged 11.4 ppg and a team-leading 7.5 rpg on very efficient numbers. Kerwin Walton (8.5 ppg) had a strong bounce-back season, shooting 48% from three-point range on four attempts a game. Chance McMillian, who averaged 10.8 ppg off the bench, should have a large role in the offense next season.

Texas Tech added two transfers who fill specific needs. Kevin Overton is a double-digit scoring guard from Drake, who averaged 11.3 ppg as a freshman. Federiko Federiko is a 6’10 center who started the last two seasons at Pittsburgh and was one of the better interior defenders in the ACC.

Replacing Isaacs big scoring production is the big question, as the roster features lots of good role players but not a star. If they can’t find that go-to guy this offseason, it’ll impact how high a floor they’ll have in 2025.
