Big 12 Basketball: Way-too-early power rankings for 2024-25 season
8. TCU Horned Frogs
2023-24 season record: 21-13 (9-9 Big 12)
Another year, another NCAA Tournament appearance for TCU and HC Jamie Dixon. This offseason though, there were plenty of roster departures. Leading scorer Emanuel Miller and guards Trey Tennyson/Avery Anderson graduated, while double-digit scoring wings, Micah Peavy and JaKobe Coles, transferred out.
The one starting guard who is back is Jameer Nelson, who averaged 11.2 ppg and 3.3 apg. Joining him in the backcourt are two key guard transfers. Frankie Collins led Arizona State with 13.8 ppg and 3.2 apg, along with setting a program record in total steals with 84. Noah Reyolds is a 6’3 scoring guard from Green Bay, putting up 20.0 ppg and 4.5 apg, including several 30+ point efforts.
The other starter back is Ernest Edeh, a 6’11 center and former five-star prospect. He shared the center minutes with the now-gone Essam Mostafa, putting up 4.3 ppg and 5.3 rpg in 17 mpg. Look for him to have a larger role, backed up by incoming freshman forward, Malick Diallo.
Wyoming transfer Brandan Wenzel (11.6 ppg and 5.1 rpg) gives the Horned Frogs more frontcourt depth. Several underclassmen wings are looking for playing time, including Jace Posey and Isaiah Manning, two potential breakout candidates.
