Georgetown Hoyas - Grade: C-

After winning nine games in his first season as HC, Ed Cooley doesn’t have a lot to build off of. A ton of players opted to enter the portal, including forwards Dontrez Styles and Supreme Cook, along with freshman guard, Rowan Brumbaugh. Only two key guys are back, including leading scorer Jayden Epps, along with freshman forward, Drew Fiedler.

So how did the Hoyas do in replacing the talent? They took some big swings but there’s not a lot of proven production coming in. Micah Peavy is a 6’8 wing from TCU and a veteran starter, while Malik Mack was one of the top-scoring freshmen in the country, coming over from Harvard.

Curtis Williams (Louisville) and Jordan Burks (Kentucky) are former four-star prospects looking for more playing time. With not much depth at Georgetown, they’ll have the opportunity. If either one can be a sophomore breakout candidate, that alone should make the Hoyas more viable in Big East play.

Ultimately, Georgetown’s inability to land any frontcourt players through the portal forces them to rely on underclassmen next season. Yes, having Epps back prevents them from getting a “D” but not much else went right for them in terms of being able to move up the conference ladder.
